Jade Regent flashback

Remorhaz, Ul-Angorn, Ogre Magi, snow spiders, Jaagiin village, big storms, underground Desna Necropolis and headless mummies

Our Intrepid adventurers began this episode breathless and exhausted from their battles at Dead Mans Dome.  Happy that most in the caravan had survived, they continued on the path of Aganhei towards Tien.   After a few days travel and an encounter with a hungry Remorhaz they made it to Ul-Angorn.   There in the sleepy village the party indulged in the benefits of civilization again, resting and relaxing and being attacked by Ogre Magi.   After making quick work of the Ogre, the caravan headed out and journeyed into Ovorikheer Pass where they met  first hand the Giant Snow spiders known to lurk in the area. Decending out of the pass the caravan made its way into Jaagiin for a brief stop, a much more quiet village and the last stop before the Altan Zuud, also known as the Last Pass.   Approaching the Altan Zuud the party discovered a hungry storm lurking above the pass, laughing with a strange female voice.    The winds whipped by the fierce storm caused avalanches making the pass even more treacherous.   Discussing their options, the Caravan decided on the path suggested by Kolya through an old Necropolis she had read about dedicated to the good god Desna.  The party started headed towards the pass, pursued by the raging winds.   Just as it looked like the storm might catch them, Kolya spotted the entry to the necropolis and the caravan went in.   After a brief rest the caravan, led by our adventurers journeyed deeper and deeper into the dark.   After about an hour the party discovered a strange Cairn of Skulls that had been decorated with red demonic faces, a design commonly attributed to Fumeiyoshi, the Tien god of dishonor, envy, graves, and the undead.   Finding nothing magic or trapped about this marker, the party continued, soon encountering some ghosts that appeared to be the spirits of long dead Erutaki warriors.  Finally, at the end of the days adventuring, the party encountered four strange headless mummies.

Who knows what horrors still lurk in the dark places of the dead....

Necropolis, Yetis, burial niches w/o skulls, Katiyana

When last we left our intrepid adventurers, they were standing in the shadow of the dark tree surrounded by water in the Necropolis.   They were approached by a group of Yetis who basically warned them away and told them there was no exit the way they were going.   The party ignored the warning and continued on, though not through the caves of the Yetis.   The party explored the catacombs a bit at S9 and S10 but found the area to be lined with burial niches filled with bodies missing their skulls.   As they continued down the corridor they encountered a pair of grinning demonic faces on either side of the passage and found the passage to be blocked with an anti-life shell.   With a handy dispel magic the party continued down to a large room (s16) containing a throne.   There they were ambushed by a large number of Yetis and Yeti savages and discovered that the evil Katiyana was not fully gone.   She had possessed the Yeti chieftain and laughing with glee she told the party that she was the Avatar of Sithud and could not be stopped.   Stop her they did after a large battle, not without casualty as the brave Azziz met his untimely death.   After defeating the yetis, Katiyana, and an air elemental she had summoned, the party continued on with the caravan up S17 discovering a blank wall.   Quick use of a stone shape by Balthazar opened the pass and the party continued onward….
